Christ Community Church - Serving the Diablo Valley

Core Values

The Gospel

Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.  Matthew 28:19-20

  • We value God's invitation to enjoy him.
  • We embrace Jesus Christ - his life, death, and resurrection - as the hope for our broken lives.
  • We receive God's grace in the gospel.  The gospel says, "We are far worse than we think, but through Jesus Christ we are more loved than we ever dared dream."
  • We recognize and value God's work in history and in our lives.
  • We value honest and understandable worship of God.
  • We motivate with grace rather than guilt.

 Community

They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.  Acts 2:42

  • We value family and deep friendship, viewing relationship as process.
  • We value honesty and transparency in light of our failure and weakness.
  • We value and respect others, welcoming them with all of their questions, objections, struggles, and doubts.
  • We welcome our friends who are not Christians to "look on and listen in" wherever we are as a body or as individuals.  There are no "in house" moments.
  • We encourage honest questions and strive to avoid quick or clichéd answers.
  • We encourage Christians to actively contribute to the community.
  • We value God-given diversity.

Social Healing

Administer true justice; show mercy and compassion to one another. Zechariah 7:9
Seek the peace and prosperity of the city . . . pray to the LORD for it. Jeremiah 29:7

  • We seek to acknowledge the reality that people are broken and wounded, the result of sin in our world, and value a holistic approach to restoring human dignity.
  • We value our need to listen.
  • We believe the proclamation of the gospel is inseparable from active concern for issues of justice and mercy.
  • In daily life, we seek to love and serve our neighbors and our community.
  • We partner with individuals and organizations in our community that are seeking to serve the physical and spiritual needs of our community.
  • We enjoy, appreciate, and care for God's creation.

Leadership Development & Training

So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.
1 Corinthians 10:31

  • We call people to work with excellence in their professional fields, in the church, and in the Diablo Valley community.
  • We are not simply for personal help, but for cultural renewal.
  • We are committed to equipping leaders in order to make the Diablo Valley an even better place to live as we serve through the arts, professional vocations, government, and the academy.
  • We are committed to training and recruiting new church developers. By proliferating churches centered on the gospel, we can play a significant role in mending the world, testifying to our hope of Jesus' return when he will set all things right.
